GAMMEX RMI® Releases CT Sim Robotic Laser Tracking Systems Version 6

August 11, 2003

GAMMEX rmi® (“GAMMEX”) announced improvements in their CT Simulation application for use on any major treatment planning system.  The CT Sim Robotic Laser Tracking System Version 6 (“CT-Sim V6”) streamlines ergonomic factors, features DICOM support, and maintains compatibility with GAMMEX LASERS’ red and green systems.

GAMMEX perceived a weakness in the performance capabilities of other tracking systems and set out to ensure a superior product.  Recent developments in GAMMEX’s CT-Sim Tracking Systems create precision other products lack.

CT-Sim V6 is available with a variety of laser systems.  Models A3000A and A3100G have three moving lasers, while A4000A and A4100G have one moving and two fixed lasers.  All models provide precise, three-dimensional movement and positioning capability with an option of red or green diodes.  The new ProbeG green lasers used in the 3100 and 4100 series enhance contrast on various skin tones, and proprietary electronics incorporate power-stabilizing circuitry that help extend diode life.

CT-Sim V6 conveniently includes an AutoRun feature in the software, a handheld pendant, a CT Sim alignment phantom, user manual, calibration kit, controller box, and all necessary cabling.  Other features of the product include Dynamic Zero Function for easy redefinition of the zero point and display of laser coordinates with patient ID information for easy retrieval.

Packages are available that include basic supplies as well as a medical-grade GAMMEX-approved desktop computer and 15 inch flat panel LCD monitor.

CT-Sim V6 complies with DICOM-RT v3.0 image transfer.  For this application, GAMMEX supplies tools for the creation of a DICOM Storage Service Class server (SCP).  The RT Plan Storage and VerificationService Class Providers enable the transfer of DICOM messages to the CT-Sim V6.  The GAMMEX_SCP server uses treatment plan isocenter data to position the CT Sim lasers. Additional data from the treatment plan are presented to the user via software control display.  GAMMEX‘s server creates further simplicity by simultaneously ascribing multiple laser positions.  CT-Sim V6 is based on the popular MERGE toolkit from Merge eFilm.

A convenient, independent laser mounting system is also available.  The versatile Stanchion System minimizes room modification, maintains compatibility with red or green lasers, and can be configured as a complete stanchion, gantries, or towers.  Stanchions are made with durable aluminum, have single entry point cable management, and can be customized to meet specific needs.
